Wilde's Meadow by Krystal Wade

Happy endings are hard to find, and even though Katriona is in the middle of a war with someone who's already stolen more than she can replace, she aches for a positive future with her Draiochtans.

Armed with hope, confidence in her abilities, and a strange new gift from her mother, Kate ventures into the Darkness to defeat a fallen god.

Losses add up, and new obstacles rise to stand in the way.

Is the one determined to bring Encardia light strong enough to keep fighting, or will all the sacrifices to stop those who seek domination be for nothing?

The final fight is here. Katriona must face the god inhabiting her best friend, and she must kill him and believe that Griandor will keep his word and bring him back to life. She must trust her army and has to face the facts that she will lose some of her friends.

This is the last book in the series - I feel I keep getting surprised by finale books lately. So many series that I really enjoy are coming to an end without my prior knowledge, seriously it has happened so much recently.

I have really enjoyed this series, as much as I disliked Brit and (in this book) Katriona gets a bit whiny and woe-is-me about the whole saviour thing. Yeah sure, she has to save a world she knew nothing of and has only recently found out about but she accepted it all so readily at the beginning that I find her downtrodden attitude a bit annoying.

Other than that, this was an excellent ending to a fantastic series and I recommend reading it, if you haven't already.

Wilde's Army by Krystal Wade

"Hello, Katriona."

Those two words spark fear in Katriona Wilde and give way to an unlikely partnership with Perth, the man she's been traded to marry for a favour. Saving her true love and protector Arland, her family, and their soldiers keeps her motivated, but the at-odds duo soon realises trust is something that comes and goes with each breath of Encardia's rotting, stagnant air. The moment when concern for her missing sister spirals out of control, all thoughts of trust are pushed aside and she finds herself trapped by the daemon tricks Perth warned her of.

However, rescuing those she loves is only half the problem.

Kate still must get to Willow Falls, unite her clashing people, and form an army prepared to fight in order to defeat Darkness. When so many she's grown fond of die along the journey, her ability to play by the gods' rules is tested.

How will she make allies when the world appears stacked against her? And will she still be Katriona Wilde, the girl with fire?

Release Date 4th July 2012

Wilde's Army takes off exactly where Wilde's Fire stops. Kate has to trust Perth to help her save all her new friends and her family then get to Willow Falls for more help to fight Darkness. Along the way, she loses friends and almost loses her own life. Then she has to play happy girlfriend with Perth to fool his dad so he doesn't try to kill Arland.

I really didn't know whether to trust Perth or not, and I'm still not sure if he's on the level or not. I'm still enjoying Arland and Kate's relationship and how it's progressing, but I wish Kate would get along better with her mother. I get that she's kept loads from her and still does, blah blah, but she has to realise that there's a reason for it. Also Kate's sister, Brit, is kind of annoying and I'm still not certain whether I like her or not. Only time (and more books) will tell.

Wilde's Fire by Krystal Wade

"There is no pain in this death, only peace, knowing I am going to die with the one I love the most."—Katriona Wilde.

Katriona Wilde has never wondered what it would feel like to have everything she's ever known and loved ripped away, but she is about to find out.

When she inadvertently leads her sister and best friend through a portal into a world she's dreamed of for six years, she finds herself faced with more than just the frightening creatures in front of her. Kate's forced to accept a new truth: her entire life has been a lie, and those closest to her have betrayed her.

What's worse, she has no control over her new future, and it's full of magic and horrors from which nightmares are made.
Will Kate discover and learn to control who she really is in time to save the ones she loves, or will all be lost?

Yet another reason why I love Netgalley, I get to find new authors that I may never have found, or heard of, otherwise. Wade writes a very believable world and extremely likeable characters (even the dude you're eventually supposed to not like).

Kate has been living a lie only she didn't know it. She's been dreaming of a hunk for 6 years now, every time she dreams of him he dies in horrific ways. Little did she know that said hunk actually existed in another world, a world she belongs in and a world she's destined to save from darkness.

I really liked the scenes between Kate and Arland, they start off as you'd expect and progress at a nice pace. It's not the overdone instalove relationship that a lot of books have so it's believable. Kate does seem to accept the whole different world/she's the saviour/hunky dream guy exists thing very quickly which I find a bit hard to believe, I'd expect someone to be pretty freaked out by that. The one big letdown in this book is the ending, it's a HUGE downer and a bit anti-climactic. But I know it's leading onto a sequel so I can (sort of) understand it and I'll live with it until the 2nd book is out. Although I have come to realise that I do, apparently, like cliffhangers or, at least, action packed endings.
