Heads up here but this review WILL contain spoilers. This is the last book in this brilliant series and I am not holding back! So if you haven't read it, here's a quick review for you : GO READ IT! So this is indeed an EPIC conclusion to the Sabina Kane series. After Cain killed Maisie in Silver Tongued Devil, Sabina wants revenge. Trouble is no-one can kill Cain without repercussions except for the Chosen, Maisie has seen Sabina as the Chosen but Sabina has always fought with it, now it's time for her to live up to that vision.
Sabina, Adam and Giguhl head off to Rome to find Abel as he's the only person that can help them. Trouble is, Asclepius has asked for payment and he wants Sabina to kill a vampire called Nyx since he's heard she's in Italy as well. So off they head to Italy, with Erron Zorn since he's the contact for Abel. Big shocker when they finally meet Abel and he's (are you ready to read this?) Sabina's father. But she has to deal with that to kill Cain, trouble is he doesn't believe she is the Chosen, he thinks it was Maisie and that with her death, all is lost. So they have some tests to see if she has what it takes to be the Chosen, oh and Sabina finds out that the vamp she's supposed to kill is part of her dad's team so she can't kill her but this pisses Asclepius off. The group must travel to Irkalla to find Lilith and Asclepius sets Cain on their tail. Tests await and Sabina loses her mage powers, her immortality and her vamp-ness only to find out she's not the Chosen after all, the Chosen is her and Maisie together. So they join up and kick his ass and then Sabina has to lead the Dark Races on earth while Maisie leads them in Irkalla so Lilith can have some time off. Oh yeah, and Giguhl gets married!

So that's my retelling (in a crap way) of the story. I loved loved loved this book, even though it brings one of my favourite series to an end *sad face*, it does it in a spectacular way.

Reading this book was both awesome and bittersweet at the same time. Awesome because it's Jaye Wells and she's such a great author, awesome because it finally sees Adam and Sabina define their relationship, awesome because it has such a poignant scene with Giguhl and Sabina, awesome because we get to see Sabina realise her potential. Bittersweet because it's the end of a great series, bittersweet because we won't get to see Giguhl's babies growing up and causing havoc, bittersweet because we don't get to see any more of Adam and Sabina.

But that's more awesomes than bittersweets so I'm happy to leave it at that. This book is a definite must read for anyone who has started this series. If you haven't read this series then go start with Red-Headed Stepchild and work your way through, you won't be sorry.

Silver-Tongued Devil by Jaye Wells

Life is looking up for Sabina Kane. The threat of war between dark races seems to have passed, and her magic training is also progressing well - just like her relationship with the sexy mage Adam Lazarus. But as much as Sabina feels hopeful about the future, she doesn't quite trust that peace is possible ...

Her suspicions are confirmed when a string of sadistic murders threaten to stall peace talks between the vampires and the mages. Sabina pitches in to find the killer, but this dark investigation soon has her questioning everyone she thought she could trust. And the closer she gets to the killer, the more Sabina begins to suspect this is one foe she may not be able to kill.

So I've had a huge change of mind since I posted my review of Green-Eyed Demon, I don't like Brooks anymore ..... or rather I don't like his new alter ego Pussy Willow. She's a bitch! And she's changed Giguhl and I'm NOT a fan of anything that changes Giguhl.

PW is a huge dampener but thankfully she's not a major character so she's not in the book all that much. Sabina is trying to settle into her new mage life, which means no feeding off humans. It's bagged blood only for this magepire. But, as usually happens in these books, a huge kick up the ass happens and her happy new life is thrown into turmoil. She has to find the murderer before they put a stop to the peace treaty between the dark races.

I'm still a HUGE fan of this series, I love Jaye Wells' writing style and her sarky wit as well as her characters. And I really can't wait to read more, it's just disappointing that Wells already has an end line in sight for the series.

This is the third book in the Sabina Kane series. The first is Red Headed Stepchild and the second is The Mage in Black. I was sucked in by the first book and I'm still in love with this series now. Sabina is a kick ass half mage half vampire (or magepire), Adam is a hot mage Pythian guard and Giguhl is the funniest demon sidekick ever (not that he has huge competition in that category but still).

Sabina's twin, Maisie, was kidnapped at the end of Mage in Black by Sabina's grandmother. Lavinia Kane is the Alpha Domina (queen bitch of all vampires) and hates Sabina and Maisie because of their mixed blood heritage. In this book, Sabina tries to find Maisie and hopes to finally defeat Lavinia. She meets new friends and finds out more about her mage powers in this book as well as finally realising the depths her emotions can go.

Of the new characters introduced in this book, Brooks is my favourite. I'm not going to tell you anything about him so don't worry, no spoilers here. Although out of all the characters in the series I think Giguhl will always be my favourite. He's just awesome, so cheeky and horny it makes for some awesome one liners from him, and I still giggle at his nickname for Sabina, "Trampire". Can't wait for more from Sabina and co. and hope Jaye has lots of books planned for them.
