Jenny needs a break from her family and it comes in the shape of Mac. Instead of what should be a simple job, they end up on the run from Sanctify with their lives at risk at every step. The insta-attraction between the two doesn't help matters.

I really enjoyed the first two stories in this series and this one was no different. Jenny is Boone's little sister and Mac works for Gerard inventing gadgets for use in the war against Sanctify - I don't remember meeting Mac before and it seems Jenny may have been in Queen of Swords (it's been a while since I read it, sorry).

I liked Jenny a lot - she had a shit life growing up and now her twisted brother is dead, she wants to enjoy herself. She's total badass, can hold her own and isn't afraid to stand up to Ophelia (who I don't remember being as bitchy in her book, but like I said it's been a while since I read it so I may be wrong). Mac was fun but I didn't like him as much as Jenny - for me, this was really her book with him as a bit part.

Since my reading of The High Priestess, I've read a lot more by Katee Robert and she's fast becoming one of my favourite authors and one who I constantly check on for new releases. For this reason, I will probably always highly recommend all her books to any of my readers.

Queen of Swords by Katee Robert

When the cards tell Ophelia Leoni she's supposed to marry the Prince of Hansarda, the gunrunner grits her teeth and boards the starship that comes for her. It doesn't matter if the ship's commander is the gorgeous stranger whose bed she just spent a wild, drunken night in. As a Diviner, she's painfully aware the cards don't lie. Ever.

Boone O'Keirna knows Ophelia is trouble the second he sees the way she moves. Not about to let the deadly little hellcat marry his sadistic half-brother, Boone pretends to be the Prince's emissary and kidnaps Ophelia. Too bad they can't be in the same room without him wanting to throw her out an airlock – or into bed.

Even as they fight each other – and their explosive attraction – Ophelia and Boone sense something is wrong. Too much is going their way. Soon, they realise while the cards may never lie, the truth is sometimes hidden between them ... and the future king of Hansarda is not one to take defeat lying down.

So Sanctify 0.5 (prequel novella) was The High Priestess and I really enjoyed it so I was looking forward to reading this.

We start off with Ophelia having trouble finding her knickers (best opening EVER), can't run from a one night stand with no pants now, can we? Then her mum (Marianna) tell her she has had a marriage proposal from some prince and, after reading her cards, she accepts. Turn out Boone is the guy that comes to collect her, only she soon finds out that he wasn't really there to collect her ... he kidnapped her instead. she realises some things on her journey and ends up liking him, then must go save him and then has to go save her and they (sort of) get their HEA.

First off, I don't think I'd mind getting kidnapped by Boone - he sounds yummy. I mean, if you're going to be kidnapped it should at least be by a sexy dude, right?

Anyway back to the story, I really enjoyed this possibly more than the prequel. It's a lot longer so you get more story for your pennies, and more character development. I would've possibly liked more background on what happened with Ophelia's former crew, but who knows? Perhaps we shall find more in a later book, which I am really looking forward to reading.

The High Priestess by Katee Robert

As the day of her scheduled execution draws near, Marianna forms a plan. She's going to seduce Gerard — a task that would be simpler if she weren't being seduced as well. But Sanctify doesn't take kindly to their people cavorting with aliens, and instead of finding a savior, Marianna may be dragging Gerald to his death alongside her ...

I hadn't read anything by Katee Robert but she's a friend's friend, a friend who's taste in books I trust, so I thought I'd give the sanctify prequel a bash. I really enjoyed it.

The characters of Marianna and Gerard (who's name I pronounced like Gerard Butler, not the American way since that sounds weird coming out of my mouth) are the ultimate enemies. Gerard has been raised to follow Sanctify beliefs, all aliens are bad and must be killed (in a very nasty way) and Marianna is the worst of all, she's a diviner, an abomination in the eyes of Sanctify. They meet in a bar and there's instant attraction, and then Gerard realises what she is and is bound to take her in. Only he doesn't want to, he wants to have smexy-sex with her (let's be honest, so do we :D ), Gerard's faith is rocked when he hears of proof of her powers and he must save her.

I liked the world that Robert has created and she writes some compelling characters. This is really just a prequel novella so it's very short, which makes it a very quick, fun read. Definitely worth a gander, it costs less than two quid.
